One of my all-time musical heroes is Gil Scott-Heron.
His songs were socially conscious, his vibe so honest and heartfelt. His music was a big part of the soundtrack to my life.
I found this song on one of his records, and loved the lyrics so much, I memorized them and used them as a theater audition. I got the part!
So here I reimagined the music, did the lyrics as spoken word. I was feeling that the message is so appropriate for where we are right now.
