Gratitude.

“Thank you” is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.

It feels fitting writing the first blog post for my new site on the subject of Gratitude.

The site is a new beginning, a blank canvas full of possibilities. And none of it would be possible without all that came before. Starting with my loving parents giving me the wonderful gift of music. My music teachers having the patience to encourage and inspire in spite of my idea that practicing my lessons meant playing along with the radio for hours instead of going over the assigned music for the week.

Happiness.

I could go on and on, with so many folks who have helped guide me along the path that I’m on today. But the idea wasn’t to make this a list of things that I’m grateful for. It was to point out that with gratefulness comes appreciation, and I feel the act of appreciation brings contentment and happiness. When we can see there’s so much to appreciate around us, we can feel satisfied with where we are.

I’m not suggesting that we shouldn’t strive and fight for what is right or what we believe in. But I do think that to be happy in life is to be successful in life. And that’s really what most of us work towards.
